Fiber

The Communications Access Cooperative Holding Enterprise (CACHE) is the owner and operator of a fiber-optic network running the length of the Hood River Valley with a Points of Presence in Parkdale, Odell, and Hood River. CACHE interconnects with Lightspeed Networks over BPA fiber to a major telecommunications hub in downtown Portland.

CACHE and Lightspeed Networks use industry proven hardware from vendors like Cisco, Riverstone (now Lucent), and WorldWide Packets to deliver full-duplex connections as small as 0.5Mb/s to 1Gb/s. The CACHE network exclusively uses ethernet transport - a very mature and established technology which allows CACHE to interface with both the internet and many private sub-networks across the country.

  • Full duplex connections provide increased performance by uploading and downloading data simultaneously, eliminating pauses in voice or video information during VoIP conversations, video streaming or video conferencing.
  • Low latency connections. The CACHE fiber connections are a tremendous advantage over comparable telephone company products - expediting the passage of time sensitive traffic such as Voice, Video, and Gaming.
  • Friendly, local support
  • 24/7/365 monitoring of your connection. Automated monitoring and alerting software informs our staff of problems often before the end user even notices.
