CACHE operates a network of fixed-wireless radios at strategic locations throughout the Hood River Valley. With a mix of 5.8GHz Line-of-sight radios and 900MHz Non-line-of-sight radios from Trango Broadband Wireless, we are able to service most of the Hood River Valley. This wireless network provides a wireless alternative to wired Internet access solutions such as DSL and Cable modems. In rural areas, wireless may be the only way to obtain a reliable high-speed internet connection as it does not rely on legacy copper phone lines or coaxial TV cable.
- Synchronous upload and download speeds provide increased performance over typical residential
connections
where the upload speed (transmitting data TO the internet) is a fraction of the download speed (receiving
data FROM the internet).
- Bandwidth numbers listed are the committed information rate (the floor or minimum delivered), to the maximum information rate (the maximum of the subscribed rate). Actual performance will likely exceed the committed rate, being near or equal to the maximum. Many ISPs advertise the ceiling or highest possible performance without committing to any minimum speed.
- Friendly, local support.
- Firewall router and private IP address for increased protection from malicious activity on the internet. Public IP addresses are available on request.
- 24/7/365 monitoring of your connection. Automated monitoring and alerting software alerts the CACHE staff to problems with your connection.
- In-home WiFi access for laptops and other devices with the included wireless router.

Two email accounts with control of unwanted spam and protection from phishing and viruses through our Vircom ModusMail server.

Private IP address with the option of a static public IP address for an additional $5/mo. (Private addresses increase security and are transparent to the user in most cases, however some applications that do not support NAT-traversal will work better with or require a public address).

HREC offers a seasonal rate for part-time residents where we will leave the equipment installed set to a limited speed for a reduced monthly rate. This prevents repeated setup/activation fees and possible service calls and allows you to resume your service at full speed on a specified date or with just a call into the office.
By accepting service from CACHE you are consenting to our Terms of Service. A copy of the Terms of Service should be left at the time of installation, it is viewable here on the website, and a copy may be requested at the HREC office.
